Let Me Back In

This is the story I read back in my childhood days
This is the world I fell into when I buried my nose in each page
The years unfold till I’m a child in pigtails and scoffed up knees
Racing around the backyard. I was Asland and you were Lucy
How do I get back there?
To the child who lived here before
I keep grouping at the pages
Trying to find the wardrobe door
Let me back in to Narnia
I once lived here
In a land of make believe
Now I keep searching each chapter
To find the world I used to see
How many years have a wandered
How many lives have I squandered for this life
Help me peel back the pages
Reveal the little girl that’s been waiting
Inside me
How do I get back there?
To the child who lived here before
I keep grouping at these pages
Trying to find the wardrobe door
Let me back in to Narnia

Stone Cold Statues

Stone cold statues
Moments that have passed you when you had to choose
You choose wrong and lost
Now you move no more than shadows sleep walking though the battles
Stuck holding a torch that never burns
A voice ignites like fire you catch sight of a child
Wandering in your garden of stone
But the little boy is laughing
Your lips crack but you can’t ask him why he draws outside your lines
If only you could tell him how you risked it all and fought
If only you could show him
When it came time you put it all on the line
And you lost
Sometimes you watch the snowflakes
Sit back and just contemplate what would you do if you could move freely
So rare to see the living moving and breathing and in there minds are dreams worth keeping alive
If only you could tell them how you risked it all and fought
If only you could show them
When it came time you put it all on the line
And you lost
I see my grandfathers face behind that cheap piture frame
I am the boy and he is the lion
I have walked though my fathers hall seen granddad hung on the wall
And wondered was he a stone cold statue too
Did he sacrifice when the battle raged
Break the bars when he rattled his cage but how did he lose?
If only you could tell me how you risked it all and fought
If only you could show me
When it came time you put it all on the line
And you lost

Mark Twain

Dear Mark Twain
Don’t mean to complain
But I can’t get though this Page
you don’t know how hard I’ve tried
but I keep reading and rereading every line
Mark Twain
won’t you explain
why you wrote in that old English style?
Cause your 19th century they wrote descriptively
add that to the old english dialect
the equation equals out that I don’t know what you are talking about
Don’t know what you talking about?
Mark Twain
Your not to blame
That your book makes me fall asleep
I must confess I flunked the test
cause I couldn’t even stay awake though the book on tape
Mark Twain
Thou art lame
I can’t help from getting stuck
Don’t misunderstand I ‘m a real big fan
It’s uncommon for me to stop before the end
To finish this book you wrote I had to read the cliff notes
I had to read the cliff notes
Dear Mark Twain
I still retain
the gist of what your trying to say
Unfortunately you’ve inspired me
to come clean with honesty
Your books are better set in the Mississippi
